Fire On Peartree Green Around mid afternoon on Thursday August 14th a fire started at the northern end of the Green near to the railway line that runs along the western border. As luck would have it a breeze was blowing from a northerly direction and the fire quickly spread along the length of the Green but was prevented from moving eastwards thanks to a firebreak/footpath. The fire brigade used the break to control the burning and only applied water when the fire had moved through most of the Green.
